The first investigative documentary to go behind the scenes of Shen Yun Performing Arts, following young artists who, under threats and interference, defend art, faith and freedom through the stage.
UNBROKEN tells the story of a group of young artists who set out to protect their culture, only to find themselves at the center of a struggle over truth, faith and freedom.
The internationally acclaimed Shen Yun Performing Arts presents five thousand years of Chinese civilization through classical Chinese dance and has risen to prominence on the world stage. At the same time, Shen Yun has become the target of an escalating series of smear campaigns, threats and interference, all of which have been linked to the Chinese Communist Party. UNBROKEN: The Untold Story of Shen Yun is the first documentary to take audiences behind the scenes of Shen Yun Performing Arts. Director Fiona Young was granted rare, exclusive access to follow several Shen Yun artists, documenting a journey from ordinary American childhoods to the world's top stages, and the setbacks they encountered through training and global tours. Through the first-hand experiences of young dancers and in-depth investigative reporting, the film reveals what happens when art, faith and freedom come face to face with totalitarian power.
